Hepatobiliary tree

This anterior view of the hepatobiliary tree shows the relation of duodenum, pancreas, spleen, and liver. The biliary ductal system is shown, including the intrahepatic and extrahepatic course of its main branches and the gallbladder. Two of the three arterial branches that originate from the celiac trunk are presented. The liver has been moved slightly from its proper anatomical position to expose the structures of the portal triad contained in the hepatoduodenal portion of the lesser omentum. The portal vein is not shown in this stage of the sketch.

This drawing is part of the Upper Gastrointestinal lecture.  In this lecture all gastrointestinal structures from esophagus to ileum are covered, along with pathology and related surgeries, open and laparoscopic. These include Barret's esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux, gastric hyperacidity, intestinal ileus, etc.

The same sketch can be used for a detailed lecture on hepatobiliary pathology and cholecystectomy.
