Clinical Anatomy

Clinical Anatomy has been called the “cornerstone of the surgeon’s clinical art”, yet many companies give their employees a superficial training on this core competency. The study of the parts and components of the human body is the basis of the three-dimensional comprehension of these structures. This is especially important in today’s world of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) where spatial orientation is critical for a good surgical outcome.

Our approach is to study the needs of our customer, the product application, and procedures targeted, as well as the strategic objectives of our client. This gives us a clear picture of the training objectives.

Upon request, we also perform compentency analyses for the target audience, defining the objectives that need to be evaluatedWith this information we can propose a curriculum that has a certain breadth (amount of anatomy covered) and depth (details which are covered). We do not believe in canned presentations where “one size fits all”.

Our anatomical teaching style includes the iteration of concepts in different modalities, using sketches, digital diagrams, and cadaver pictures and slides. All of these to make sure learning takes place. Depending on the needs of a company, our work may include the dissection of a specimen.

The topics we have covered to-date have a wide range, which you can evaluate HERE. Feel free to partner with us to develop and deliver your anatomical curriculum.

In several opportunities we have developed and delivered clinical anatomy courses for domestic and international companies in Cincinnati. These several day-long courses include cadaver lab dissections where the students actually perform the procedures they study along with role-playing where they go through the steps of the surgical procedure and the verbalization of the devices and their applications.  CONTACT US for more information.
